How we ranked the top Parkersburg movers
Why you should trust us
We take reviews seriously to protect people just like you! Our team has been crunching data on moving companies since 2010. Our math-based ranking system uses data, manual review, and statistical analysis to help you hire the best movers in Parkersburg, WV.
Rating Methodology
Here's the methodology we used to come up with the best movers in Parkersburg:
Our original review-based ranking algorithm
We started with a total of 18 companies that offer moving services in the Parkersburg area.
From these 18 companies, we analyzed a total of 1,168 reviews dating all the way back to November 2012.
We also reviewed a total of 4 state and federal moving licenses from these 18 companies and 39 different 3rd party review and social profiles.
Each of the ~1,000 reviews was scored according to our detailed 11-point rating criteria
This gave us a total of 1,800 data points to compute individual company scores.
Reviews are time-weighted so that more recent reviews carry more weight. This helps you understand how a mover is doing today... not 5 years ago. We have 49 Parkersburg moving company data points from the past 2 years that carry more weight.
Bayesian averages calculated to fairly account for the differences between companies that are newer(like Myers Transfer & Storage Systems, Inc.) vs older more established companies (like Walker Transfer - Powell, LLC).

Frequently Asked Questions About Moving in Parkersburg
How much should you tip movers in Parkersburg, WV?
In Parkersburg, a good rule of thumb is to tip around 10-20% of your total moving cost or about $5 per mover per hour. This shows appreciation for their hard work, especially when they're hauling heavy furniture through the hills of West Virginia. If your budget allows, offering non-alcoholic refreshments such as icy sweet tea is a nice local touch to keep everyone energized.
Is it cheaper to make a DIY move in Parkersburg?
A DIY move around Parkersburg can save money up front, but keep in mind potential extra expenses like fuel, truck rentals, and packing supplies. Make sure you’re ready to handle the labor and plan a route that avoids busier times on I-77 or local streets. If you’d like to explore truck rental options, check out local rental locations to see what’s available in your area.
Should I hire labor-only movers?
If you already have a truck or container ready in Parkersburg, hiring help just for loading and unloading can be a budget-friendly choice. These labor-only services let you handle transportation on your own, while movers take care of the heavy lifting. Learn more about your options at labor-only movers and simplify your next move in the Mid-Ohio Valley.
What if I need to move something special like a piano or pool table?
For specialty moves in Parkersburg, it’s important to choose movers who know how to handle items like precious pianos, pool tables, and even larger pieces like hot tubs or gun safes. Whether you need piano movers or skilled pool table movers, be sure to find a team experienced in navigating the local roads and terrain in Wood County for a safe and stress-free move.
