How we ranked the top Franklin movers
Why you should trust us
We take reviews seriously to protect people just like you! Our team has been crunching data on moving companies since 2010. Our math-based ranking system uses data, manual review, and statistical analysis to help you hire the best movers in Franklin, NC.
Rating Methodology
Here's the methodology we used to come up with the best movers in Franklin:
Our original review-based ranking algorithm
We started with a total of 8 companies that offer moving services in the Franklin area.
From these 8 companies, we analyzed a total of 3,205 reviews dating all the way back to June 2011.
We also reviewed a total of 1 state and federal moving licenses from these 8 companies and 33 different 3rd party review and social profiles.
Each of the ~3,000 reviews was scored according to our detailed 11-point rating criteria
This gave us a total of 4,294 data points to compute individual company scores.
Reviews are time-weighted so that more recent reviews carry more weight. This helps you understand how a mover is doing today... not 5 years ago. We have 48 Franklin moving company data points from the past 2 years that carry more weight.
Bayesian averages calculated to fairly account for the differences between companies that are newer(like Asheville Area Movers) vs older more established companies (like Two Men and a Truck).

Frequently Asked Questions About Moving in Franklin
How much should you tip movers in Franklin, NC?
In Franklin, many people recommend tipping movers about 10-20% of the total moving cost or around $5 per mover per hour to show your appreciation. The rocky roads and steep driveways around Macon County can add to the challenge, making a tip a nice way to acknowledge their hard work. As an extra gesture, you could also keep your movers refreshed with some cold sweet tea during those hotter North Carolina days.
Is it cheaper to make a DIY move in Franklin?
For those who like more control over the process, a DIY move in Franklin can be cost-effective—but don’t forget about extras like gas, truck rental, and supplies. Maneuvering large vehicles on curvy roads near the Nantahala National Forest is no small task, so plan for added time and caution. If you’re ready to rent a truck, check out moving truck rental locations in Franklin, NC for available options.
Should I hire labor-only movers?
If you’re just looking for help with loading or unloading in Franklin, you can hire hourly movers in Franklin to make the process easier. They handle the heavy lifting while you focus on scheduling utilities, changing your address, or dealing with local roads like U.S. Highway 441. It’s a flexible solution that saves time and helps you avoid the physical strain of hauling items yourself.
What if I need to move something special like a piano or pool table?
Moving large or delicate items in Franklin, such as a piano or a pool table, often calls for professional care. Local piano movers know how to protect your instrument over winding mountain roads, while pool table movers have the expertise and tools to safely disassemble and reassemble complex equipment. From pool tables to statues and hot tubs, specialty movers can help ensure your valuables arrive in perfect condition despite the hilly terrain.
